It took me about 30min per chair with a sander to smooth out the rough edges and then another 15mins or so to assemble on average (20min for first and then 10min for second). You start by fitting the arms, legs, back and seat together by connecting tapered ends into pre-cut holes.
This gives you a relatively smooth surface (even if the logs are carved to be rough on purpose) in which to finish. Another gripe was they give you a dozen or so 5″ wood screws to drill through the joints, but really leave your own for placement. The finished product looks like its pictures, and is appropriate for most decks, back yards, beaches.
