A rustic, friendly, solid homey Texas wine tasting experience. There are no frills or pretentious snootiness found here.
Dry Comal Creek Vineyards started in 1998 by Bonnie and Franklin Houser. After two floods and loosing their vineyard twice to Pierce’s Disease they decided to plant only Black Spanish/Lenoir grapes on their 10 acre estate. Today they focus on creating Texas style wines that are drinkable now, and use grapes/juice/wine sourced predominantly from Texas, New Mexico, and California.
Driving up to this winery you feel as if you are coming to visit your friends on their farm. This place was packed on a late Saturday afternoon, right before closing, when my party of four arrived.
